The Shlomo Group acquired Afcon Industries Group – one of the largest industrial conglomerates in Israel – in 2003. Afcon employs approximately 1,100 employees and in 2010 its turnover stood at €180mn. Afcon is ranked as Israel's leader in the Electro Mechanic field (link to BDI rankin).

Afcon focuses on the following business operations: design, manufacture, installation, integration and sale of electro-mechanical equipment; control, automation and security; transmission, monitoring and control systems for the natural gas industry; and communications and telephony systems.

The group operates under five divisions: electro-mechanical; control and software, natural gas, trade and communications. Group factories manufacture low, medium and high voltage switching boards, control boards and electrical switching equipment. When acting as a contractor, Afcon installs and integrates electrical and elector-mechanical systems, and provides comprehensive solutions for the following systems: electrical,

electromechanical, HVAC, control and automation, fire and security, building security and management, transportation and telemetry and natural gas. Additionally, Afcon provides solutions for the development and manufacturing of electronic models and software packages for interfacing human-machine for SCADA systems as well as solutions for communications and telephony.

Afcon Industries imports and distributes a wide variety of products, components and instruments for electric and control systems as well as electronic equipment and systems for natural gas, all manufactured by world leading companies. The company operates over and above Israel in the US, Russia, Romania, the Czech Republic and Jamaica.

Technological synergies allow Afcon – an integrated group – to serve as a general contractor or sub-contractor on complex industrial and infrastructure projects. Afcon is also able to bid on sub-contracting work for the following types of projects: fire fighting, security software, electric, control, HVAV and mechanical systems, as well as civil engineering and sanitation projects.
